If you are looking for a way to pull videos from sites like Youtube, or simply convert movie files you may have into a format you can use, check out Zamzar.com. Zamzar allows you to paste the URL from the video you would like, then sends you an e-mail to let you know the conversion is complete. You can then download the video for use in Powerpoint or other programs. For those of you who have found videos on Youtube that apply to your content, but are concerned about other content on Youtube, this product is for you!

Cyberbullying Video
Check out this video on Cyberbullying from Digizen.org, a UK organization. The film features music by Ben Folds, and illustrates the multidude of forms cyberbullying can take. They also have a teacher guide if you are interested in using it with your students.

Today, the New York Times ran an interesting article regarding the use of PowerPoint in the military, We Have Met the Enemy and He is PowerPoint . It was a fairly damning critique of an organization that gets most of its information or lack of information through PowerPoint slides. Here are a few quotes from the article: “PowerPoint makes us stupid" - Gen. James N. Matti “It’s dangerous because it can create the illusion of understanding and the illusion of control...Some problems in the world are not bullet-izable.” -Gen. H.R. McMaster And the following comment that I think has a great impact for us as educators: " Commanders say that behind all the PowerPoint jokes are serious concerns that the program stifles discussion, critical thinking and thoughtful decision-making ."
